I lived in California for eight years, and that is where the first idea for Avrane began to take shape.

There were sunny mornings in Santa Monica, drives along the Malibu coast, lunches planned in Beverly Hills, and weekends spent driving up to Half Moon Bay for a short escape and a round of golf by the ocean.

What stayed with me was not just the scenery. It was the way people moved through their days.

People were active, but it never felt overly serious. A tennis lesson could turn into lunch. A morning on the golf course could become an afternoon by the coast. You might leave home with one plan, then stay out much longer than expected because the day was simply too nice to rush.

That way of living felt relaxed, but never careless.

People wanted to be comfortable, but they still cared about feeling put together. They wanted clothes that could move with them, look polished in photos, and still feel right when the day changed shape.

That is the feeling I wanted to bring into Avrane.

For a long time, I felt that activewear gave me two choices. It could be highly technical and clearly made for the gym, or it could look polished but feel too restrictive to really move in.

I wanted something that did not force that choice.

Something you could wear to a tennis lesson and keep on for coffee afterward. A golf dress that feels appropriate on the course but still looks right at lunch. A skirt that moves easily when you walk, layers that feel light enough for a warm day, and silhouettes that make you feel put together without feeling overdressed.

Comfort is a big part of that.

When we design a piece, I think about the small things that can change how it feels to wear. Whether a neckline sits comfortably on the shoulders. Whether a waistband feels secure without digging in. Whether the shorts underneath are easy to move in and comfortable enough that you stop thinking about them. Whether the fabric still feels good after a few hours outside, after sitting down for lunch, or after a long drive home.

The best clothes do not demand attention all day. You should not have to keep pulling at a hem, adjusting a strap, or changing the moment your plans move beyond the court or the course.

The California influence in Avrane is not about dressing for one place. It is about bringing that same sense of ease with you wherever you are: clean lines, thoughtful details, comfortable fabrics, and clothes that make an active day feel a little more effortless.
